Video: Daniel Etim-Effiong discloses why more male actors seek financial support online compared to their female partners

Published

on

Actor Daniel Etim-Effiong has shared his thoughts on why more male actors seek financial aid online compared to their female counterparts.

In a recent interview with The Daily Telegraph, Etim-Effiong said

that he believes the stigma attached to men seeking help is a major factor.

“There’s a stigma attached to men asking for help,” he said.

“Men are supposed to be strong and independent,

and asking for help can be seen as a sign of weakness.”

Etim-Effiong also said that he believes that men are more

likely to be embarrassed to admit that they are struggling financially.

“Men are often seen as the breadwinners of the family,” he said.

“So admitting that you’re struggling financially can be seen as a failure.”

The actor’s comments come after a recent study found

that men are more likely to seek financial aid online than women.

The study, which was conducted by the University of New South Wales,

found that men are twice as likely as women to use online crowdfunding platforms to raise money.

The study’s authors said that the findings were likely

due to the stigma attached to men seeking help.

“Men are socialized to be stoic and independent,” the study’s lead author, Dr. Belinda Wrigley, said.

“This can make it difficult for them to seek help when they are struggling.”

Wrigley said that it is important to break down the stigma attached to men seeking help.

“We need to create a culture where men feel comfortable asking for help when they need it,”

she said. “This will help to ensure that men get the support they need to thrive.”
