The heart-wrenching story of Deborah, a promising undergraduate student who met a tragic fate, has garnered widespread attention.

Deborah was mercilessly lynched by her schoolmates at Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State on May 12, 2022.

However, amidst the sorrow, a glimmer of hope emerged as Chibuzor Chinyere, the general overseer of Omega Power Ministries (OPM) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, extended a helping hand to Deborah’s grieving family.

Initially, it seemed that the family’s fortune was turning around. Chinyere reportedly provided them with a house, a car, and improved their living conditions.

However, an update from the family paints a different picture, shedding light on their ongoing struggles since their relocation to Port Harcourt.

Emmanuel and Alheri, Deborah’s family members, recently opened up about their harsh reality in an interview with FIJ.

Contrary to the perception of an improved life, they expressed that their circumstances had not been as rosy as believed.

The family had been uprooted from Niger State to Port Harcourt by OPM, with the promise of a better life.

Upon their arrival, OPM arranged a mini estate comprising 14 self-contained apartments for the family.

However, due to the size of the family, the pastor decided to rent a separate bedroom flat for them.

The apartment was furnished with appliances, seemingly offering a glimmer of comfort in their new environment.

As part of the initial support, OPM also provided Emmanuel with a used Toyota Corolla, which he used as a taxi to make ends meet.

Unfortunately, the car soon began to exhibit numerous faults, forcing Emmanuel to halt its use.

Despite his attempts to address the issue with the OPM pastor, he was met with blame and criticism, with the suggestion that he lacked proper driving skills.

The situation further deteriorated when the family found themselves financially strained. They struggled to sustain themselves after the initial assistance from OPM ceased.

Emmanuel expressed his desperation, revealing that he had depleted the funds meant for their upkeep in an attempt to repair the faulty car.

The engine remained in disrepair, leaving them unable to afford the necessary repairs.

Adding to their predicament, the family disclosed that the rent for their current apartment had expired, with the landlord demanding renewal or eviction.

The house and all the appliances within it were reportedly owned by OPM, further highlighting the family’s dependency.

Despite the initial support received, the family now finds themselves trapped in a challenging situation, yearning for assistance and relief.

Their plea for help echoes through their online cries, shedding light on the harsh realities they face daily.

As the story unfolds, the fate of Deborah’s family hangs in the balance, as they navigate their difficult circumstances in the wake of their heartbreaking loss.

The hope they once held has faded, leaving them in dire need of support and stability.

The challenges they now face serve as a reminder of the complexities surrounding acts of charity and the responsibility to ensure long-term well-being for those in need.
