Over N580 million recovered from suspended EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa

Published

on

In a stunning development, the Department of State Services (DSS) has recovered over N580 million from Abdulrasheed Bawa,

the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bawa was arrested by the DSS in June following his indefinite suspension

by President Bola Tinubu over allegations of misconduct and

abuse of office. He has remained in custody since then.

The recovery of the funds from Bawa has raised eyebrows and

sparked speculation about the nature of his alleged wrongdoing.

It is unclear how the DSS obtained the money,

but it is possible that it was seized from Bawa’s personal accounts or from properties linked to him.

The revelation of the recovered funds is a major blow to Bawa,

who has一直touts himself as a champion of anti-corruption.

It also raises questions about the effectiveness of the EFCC in combating corruption within its own ranks.

The Nigerian public is eagerly awaiting further details about the case.

It remains to be seen whether Bawa will be charged with any offenses,

but the recovery of the funds is a clear indication that

the authorities are taking the allegations against him seriously.
