Happie Bois set to be deported back to Nigeria for living illegally in Cyprus

The Nigerian duo Happie bois, Kelechi and Johnson, are set to be deported from Northern Cyprus after their student permits expired.

The two went viral in 2020 for their dancing videos while working at Chicken Republic, and were subsequently offered a scholarship to study in Northern Cyprus by Pastor Chibuzor Chinyere.

However, the Happie Bois fell out with Pastor Chinyere in 2022, after which they were unable to renew their student permits. They continued to live in Northern Cyprus illegally, and eventually dropped out of school.

The Happie Bois were arrested by the Cyprus police after they were involved in an incident that required police intervention. Upon their arrest, the police discovered that their student permits had expired and they were living in the country illegally.

The Happie-bois are currently in prison and are expected to be deported to Nigeria after serving their sentences. They have been blacklisted from ever entering Cyprus again.

This news has come as a shock to many Nigerians, who had followed the Happie-bois’ journey since their viral dancing videos. The duo had gained a large following on social media, and their fans are now expressing their disappointment and sadness at their deportation.

It is unclear what the future holds for the Happie bois, but it is a cautionary tale for other Nigerians who are considering studying abroad.
