Agbo-A-Thon: Nigerian lady set to cook herbs for 300-hours to set world record
Eniola Fagbemi, a Nigerian lady from Ibadan, is set to embark on a 300-hour cooking marathon of agbo
(herbs) on December 1, 2023, in an attempt to set a new world record.
Agbo is a traditional Yoruba herbal concoction known for its medicinal properties.
Fagbemi, who has been selling herbs for over 10 years,
said she was inspired to attempt the record-breaking feat to promote
the use of traditional Yoruba medicine and to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria.
“I want to use this opportunity to showcase the healing power of our traditional herbs to the world,”
she said. “I also want to encourage people to embrace our culture and appreciate the wisdom of our ancestors.”
Fagbemi said she has been training for the marathon for several months,
practicing cooking agbo for long hours and building her stamina.
She is confident that she will be able to complete the challenge and set a new world record.
“I know it will be tough, but I am determined to do it,”
she said. “I am not just doing this for myself, but for my community and for Nigeria.”
The current world record for the longest cooking marathon is held by Chef Hilda Baci,
a Nigerian chef who cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes in 2023.
Fagbemi is hoping to surpass this record and set a new mark of 300 hours.
Fagbemi’s attempt will be monitored by Guinness World Records officials,
who will be on hand to verify her progress and ensure that she adheres to the strict rules of the challenge.

Cuppy laughed at the joke and noted that the platform isn’t for the emotionally weak.
